Beulah Mae  Glasgow (Thrasher)
Heflin, Alabama-- Beulah Mae Thrasher Glasgow, 97, a long time resident of Heflin passed away at John Knox Manor Health Center in Montgomery, AL, on April 21, 2017. Born in 1919 in Cleburne County, Alabama, Mrs. Glasgow graduated with teaching degrees from both Jacksonville State University and Auburn University. She taught school for 33 years and was an active member of New Harmony Baptist Church for over 50 years. She taught Sunday school at the church and at the Cleburne County Nursing home.

Mrs. Glasgow was a prominent educator in Alabama, serving on the State Teacher Tenure Commission and was a frequent representative to the Alabama Education Association, as well as the National Education Association. She served on committees for the State that were responsible for writing textbooks. Mrs. Glasgow also taught Adult Basic Education to help adults achieve their GED. She was an educator in the Cleburne County School system, remembered by her many students years after her retirement. She lived for her God, her family, and the hundreds of students who were fortunate to benefit from her wisdom and guidance.

Mrs. Glasgow was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Wilmer, grandsons Kirk and Brad Glasgow. She is survived by her three sons, Wilmer Glasgow, Jr. and daughter-in-law Joyce of Montgomery; Don Glasgow and daughter-in-law Cynthia of Gulf Shores; and Andrew Glasgow of Asheville, N.C. She is also survived by a sister Nana Lea Burton and a brother, Coy Thrasher, grandchildren Elizabeth Glasgow and Anthony Glasgow and his wife Michele, and five great grandchildren who gave her great joy during her later years.

Services will be Monday April 24, at 2:00 at New Harmony Baptist Church. Visitation will be Sunday from 4 unti 6 PM at Dryden Funeral Home.
