Obituary for Willyne "Hazel" Ferguson

Willyne “Hazel” Ferguson, born Sept 15, 1932, passed away Tues, Jan 16, 2018 at NHC of Anniston. Hazel was most recently of Heflin, AL. But, she was a long time resident of Glencoe where she raised her family. While in Glencoe, she was very active in her church, Glencoe First Baptist. She served as Church Training Director, Sunday school teacher, Church Training teacher, Leader of the Bible Drill team and was active in the Women’s Group. She also loved to be a counselor on the Mission Trips where she was able to help the kids grow in service to God. Along with her service to the Church, she spent countless hours volunteering in the school system and helping with the local Cub Scout Dens.

Hazel was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmie Ferguson, of Glencoe, her parents, Willis and Alice Layne, a son, Joseph Lynn Allison, and sisters, Sue Reed and Ruth JoAnn Nichols.

She is survived by her son Michael (Meredith) Ferguson of Illinois, a daughter, Darlene Bedell of Florida, and 5 grandchildren, Alice Elliott (FL), Amanda O’Brian (FL), Janet Bedell (FL), Jager Ferguson (IL), and Jaxon Ferguson (IL) and great grandchildren.

Her life celebration will be at the Chapel at Dryden Funeral Home, Heflin, AL on Sat, Jan 20, 2018. The family will receive visitors starting at 10 AM, funeral will follow at 11, graveside services will be at Pine Grove cemetery in Glencoe at approximately 1 PM. The Rev Mark Cosby will officiate the service.
