Obituary for Annie Laure Giles White

White
Heflin - Annie Laure Giles White, age 92, passed away on May 5, 2018 after a short illness. Services for Mrs. White will be held at Heflin Baptist Church, 155 Almon St., Heflin, Alabama on May 7, 2018. Visitation will be at the church from 4 P.M. until 6 P.M. with the service immediately following. Rev. Phillip Morris and Rev. Brent Thompson will preside over the service.

She is survived by her daughters, Elizabeth Ann (Libby) Owen(Jerry Paul), Laura Jane Mayfield(Ronnie), daughter in law Camille White, granddaughter Felicia Wheat(Stephen), three great grandchildren, Alexander Owen, Porter Wheat, Owen Wheat, all of Heflin.

Mrs. White was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Lowell White, son, Charles Ed White, parents, Samuel Edward and Izora McMahan Giles, Siblings, Comer Giles, Glyn Mac Giles, Dessie Thomas, Claude Giles, Helen Vaughn, Lois Tolleson, and Net Harper Nelson.

Mrs. White was born in Cleburne County. After graduating from Cleburne County High School she attended Judson College where she loved to play basketball. She returned home where she taught and substituted at schools in Cleburne County. On June 12, 1944 she married the love of her life and for 67 years they enjoyed their life together as parents, business partners, politicians, and poultry farmers.

Annie Laure was a lifelong member of Heflin Baptist Church. She loved her family and friends and always welcomed everyone into her home for good food and good laughs. At age 91 she would drive to Libby's house to help her with the love and passion that only a mother could have. She always sealed her goodbye with a hug and a kiss.

The family would like to thank the employees of the Cleburne County Nursing Home, the Cleburne County EMS and the staff on the 8th floor of RMC. A special thanks to Cindy Cheatham and Shelia Ware for their loving care.

Interment will be in the Heflin City Cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Dan Norton, Clint(Shag) Austin, Glen Kilgore, Tommy Bennett, Alex Owen, Joe Bailey, Bill Owen, Scott Johnson, and Charlie Cochran.
