Obituary for Betty Bernice Henson

Heflin - Mrs. Betty Bernice Henson was born Feb 4, 1936 to the late Mr. and Mrs. John (Pauline) Herren.
Betty attended Randolph County Training School in Wedowee, Al.
Betty joined Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church at a early age and was a member until she married the love of her life and later joined the New Bethel United Methodist Church in Heflin, Al.
Betty was united in holy matrimony to Elvin D. Henson on April 21, 1962. They have been married for 55 years.
Mrs. Henson served as the church secretary and church treasury for many years until her health began to fail. In 1990 she was chosen to be an Anniston Army Depot Wife of the Year.
Betty leaves to cherish her memories three loving sons: Jeffery (Portica) Henson, Stoney (Marcella) Henson both of Heflin, Al. and Shannon (Alisha) Henson of McKinney, Tx. and step daughter, Iris Franklin. Betty is also survived by one sister Mrs. Queenie Boyd of Bowdon Ga. and her twin brother Bennie (Mary) Herren of Woodland, AL.
Betty has six grandkids and five great grandkids and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Monday, January, 30, 2017 at 11 AM at Dryden Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Stacy Hill, Rev. William Crawford, and Minister Chris Herren, officiating. Interment will be in the Heflin City Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday January, 29, 2017 from 3 until 5 PM at Dryden Funeral Home, Heflin, Al.
Pallbearers will be Frank Ervin, Forrest Johnson, Marvin Redford, Brodrick Ray, Derrick Herring, and Conrad Freeman.
Flower bearers will be nieces.
Mrs. Henson was preceded in death by five sisters, Hattie Herren, Aretha Stephens, Virginia Holloway, Emma Julia Wiggs and Wyline Stephens. Eight brothers, Taylor McLemmore, King David Herring, William Herring, Willis Roy Herring, Garfield "Shack" Herring, Barfield "Red" Herren, Stell Herring, and Luther Madden and tree adopted siblings, Ethel Dallas, R. C. Madden, and Mable Garrett.
The Family of the late Betty Bernice Henson express their sincere appreciation for your prayers, calls, visits, cards, food and love that have been given during the death of our loved one. We also would like to thank Amedisys Hospice Care for their dedicated loyalty 24 hour care and a special care giver and friend Michelle Bunard.
