Mr. Walker was preceded in death by a son, George Richard Walker.
B J worked for many years with Cole Motor Company and Buster Miles in Heflin. He later owned and operated his own business, Walker Paint and Body Shop, in Anniston, AL. Before retirement he built his shop in the back yard of our home in Oxford, AL. He was known by many as one of the best body and fender repairman in the area. After retirement he briefly worked for L.C. Skinner driving a car hauler to pick up cars for Skinner’s Auto Sales. He finally came to the house and enjoyed several years of wood work making, many beautiful crafts that he shared with family and friends and donated to charity auctions. Many of his crafts still fill our home. He was very talented in carpentry and built most of the home we have in Jacksonville and later built his son’s home.
He truly loved and provided for his family of 5 children making a beautiful life of 68 years of marriage to Bernice. During their marriage, he and Bernice opened their home to several elderly family members, two of which, lived with them for nearly 20 years while they raised their children. As a daddy, he provided, on a very limited budget, everything that they needed and wanted.
In their later years, he and Bernice enjoyed their Friday nights traveling to Tallapoosa Georgia to meet with friends and listen to Bluegrass music at the Outpost Music Barn. They were a second family to them and have been a source of comfort to them as they’ve dealt with various health issues. They also spent most of their Sundays in Cleburne County in worship at Crossroads Baptist Church.
God blessed B J with many healthy years even after battling and beating cancer at least twice in his lifetime. He will be so very much missed by his family and friends.
